IPL 2019: The major highlight of IPL auction 2019, which concluded in Jaipur on Tuesday, was the emergence of lesser-known Indian players earning big in the auction. IPL 2019 players auction witnessed a new list of millionaires with architect-cum-mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy and Jaydev Unadkat got hefty sum of Rs 84 million (Rs 8.4 cr) each while England all-rounder Sam Curran emerged as the highest overseas player with a price tag of Rs 72 million (Rs 7.2 cr). Varun, a little-known bowler, was purchased by the Kings XI Punjab while Unadkat, the left-arm quick, was snapped up by his former franchise — Rajasthan Royals, who had released him after a satisfactory stint in IPL 2018.

Indian players such as Axar Patel (Delhi Capitals), Mohit Sharma (Chennai Super Kings) and Shivam Dube (Royal Challengers Bangalore) also breached Rs 50 million club in the IPL 2019 auctions where stalwarts like Brendon McCullum and Dale Steyn went unsold…

In the IPL 2019 players auction, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) bought 13 players after releasing stalwarts like Aaron Finch and Yuvraj Singh among 11 players ahead of the auction in Jaipur. The major highlight of the IPL auction 2019 was the emergence of lesser-known Indian players earning big in the auction. The trend was set by the Punjab franchise, who went for leg-spinner Varun Chakaravarthy, before further bolstering their bowling attack with the addition of Curran, and India’s pace spearhead Mohammed Shami for Rs 48 million (Rs 4.8 crore).

The Punjab side also bought 17-year-old wicket-keeper Prabhsimran Singh for a whopping Rs 48 million (Rs 4.8 crore) while splurging Rs 42 million (Rs 4.2 crore) for West Indian Nicolas Pooran and Rs 10 million (Rs 1 crore) for Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques.

IPL 2019 will be off to an earlier-than-usual start owing to Lok Sabha elections, dates of which are yet to be announced. Any change in the provisional IPL 2019 schedule will be revised accordingly

Sports News: The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) on Tuesday announced the schedule of Indian Premier League (IPL 2019) for the first two weeks, comprising 17 games. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will play against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the tournament opener on March 23.

The IPL will be off to an earlier-than-usual start this year owing to the Lok Sabha elections 2019, dates of which are yet to be announced. Any change in the provisional itinerary — from March 23 to April 5 — will be revised accordingly.

While the weekends will have double-headers but the schedule doesn’t clarify whether the BCCI will continue with the usual 4 pm (afternoon) and 8 pm (evening) format or there will be a change in timing.|IPL 2019

“These are still subject to the announcement of the Lok Sabha 2019 election dates. Once these have been released, the BCCI will address any issues with the first two weeks and will also prepare a schedule for the remainder of the season working with the local authorities around the polling dates,” read an official statement from the IPL.

On March 24, Kolkata Knight Riders will host Sunrisers Hyderabad in the afternoon encounter of a double header in which Mumbai Indians will take on Delhi Capitals in Mumbai. Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab will meet each other in Jaipur to complete the first round of games…
